We are going to be talking about dynamic characters and how they change throughout any play and any book. A dynamic characters can change how they feel or they can change by their actions during the book or play. An example is by not helping people at the start, but towards the end, they start helping people with the tasks they need help with. In The crucible, two characters stand out as good examples of dynamic characters.
A dynamic character is somebody that changes his or her personality or attitude. Victor’s creature from Mary Shelley’s novel fits the definition of a dynamic character because he changes his attitude during the novel. The creature in the beginning of the novel starts being a good “person.” He did a lot of kind things for human beings like helping Felix’s family.
In the book Nimona, I believe that the characters are dynamic, meaning they change a lot. On pg. 126-127, Goldenloin (the “hero”) is told by the director to kill Nimona and Blackheart, but Goldenloin agrees to kill the girl and keep Blackheart captive. A lousy teenager likes Nate, who no one ever wants to come across to. In the novel “One of Us is Lying” by Karen M. McManus, the character Nate Macauly, the most suspicious out of the four suspects to have killed Simon Kellher, is classified as a dynamic character because Nate is known to have an infamous reputation at school. Characters can change a great deal throughout the course of a story. Based off of "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," we see just how much a character will change. There is a specific scene in the movie where its Nemo’s first day of school, you can tell through the tone of his voice and the facial expressions that he is making that his is very excited to finally be going to school, his dad Marlin on the other had is dreading having his only son go to school. Nemo at one point slips out of the anemone and you automatically see the change of facial expressions in Marlin. He quickly gets up to make sure his son is ok and starts frantically asking him questions, mind you nothing is wrong with Nemo but this the first encounter between the two and you automatically see how protective he is for his son. Another great example of great dialogue and facial expressions is when he finds out that the kids are going to “The Drop-off” with their class. He gets frantic starts making comments like “are you insane?”
Growing up and now entering into my adult years of my life, one character has always remained with me and helped me overcome many challenges and struggles in life. Dory, one of the protagonists in the popular Disney film “Finding Nemo”, is the most influential character in my life. Dory illustrates through her actions and personality that she is the true definition of a hero. She exemplifies the qualities it takes to be a leader and hero through her optimistic attitude, kindness to others, her helpful hand to anyone she sees, and lovingness. Her willingness to go to full lengths to help her friends and accompanying anyone, she takes on adventures and displays her role as a leader throughout the entire movie.
