Did you know that 20.2 million people were enrolled in college or universities in 2015 compared to 21 million in 2010? It is quite true. More people are deciding to go to straight to work rather than improving their education. Now is it more beneficial to go to college than not to go to college? I am going to say it depends on the person who is trying to decide. It depends on their character, their strengths, and what they want.
In New York Times “Is College Worth It? Clearly, New Data Say”, it is said that the value and pay of a college degree is rising. Workers with a college degree are getting better pay than those without. The average salary for a college graduate is $46,000 while it’s $32,000 for those people with only a high school diploma. High-level jobs normally required a degree other than the lower-level jobs.
In Steve Jobs Commencement Speech at Stanford University (2005), he asserts “ Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” In other words, Steve Jobs believe that we need to follow our intuition and trust that it will lead us down the right path. In result, he became the founder of Apple and one of the most successful entrepreneurs as well as inventor. Steve Jobs is insisting we do the same and trust our
