Captain of Industry or a Robber Baron? Captain of Industry or a Robber Baron? A Robber barons is typically known for taking advantage of land grant systems, and bribing member of Congress, but it is more then that. It’s more about, it's when someone becomes rich from dirty business, it's you either having or not having a moral opinion. A Captain of Industry is someone who became successful, without having to abuse or take advantage of the system.
Captain of Industry or Robber Baron, who knows whether the entrepreneurs of the Gilded Age were either, neither or both. There was many things that each person had done but what defines them? Who can tell what each person is? Andrew B. Carnegie was a Robber Baron. He profited from underpaid, undereducated workers.

Rockefeller who were both Philanthropist, and 2 of the top 5 businessmen that America has ever known. It was probably very hard to work during that time. Some people feel as if Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller are Robber Barons, and some people feel as if he is a Captain of Industry. I feel as if Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller both didn’t treat their workers well for multiple reasons.

Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie should be remembered most as "captains of industry" because their grit and resourcefulness left an invaluable positive impact on American society. Carnegie was a captain of industry and this is obvious, between his come up to his passing it creates a clear picture of a man who wanted to advance society.
