I have always contemplated whether drug addiction is a disease or a choice? This topic has been very controversial and has brought many debates. A lot of researches have taken a stand that being a drug addict is completely a disease and it only be cured by seeking a medical treatment. However, some researchers that believe drug addiction is a choice. This is controversial topic there will be both news articles and academic journal articles, however, most of my sources will come from the academic journals since they have a specific focus and more in-depth. They will be many sources available for this particular topic and most of them will be biased in some way. Even though the title of the article seems like its biased, the articles presents all sides of the argument really well and goes into depth. The second source I will be using is “Drug addiction: the neurobiology of disrupted self-control. This particular journal article have a lot information regarding this particular topic. The article explains how an exposure to drugs might be prerequisite for a drug addiction. I feel like these is so true, people don’t realize that drug addiction can happen so fast and they can lose so much. Some addicts don’t realize the damage drug addiction can cause to their loved ones, until it’s too late. This articles is a great article and have a lot of great information regarding this topic.
