A tragic hero is a protagonist character with a tragic flaw that leads to their demise. In both Macbeth and 1984 tragic heroes are present. In Macbeth, Macbeth is doomed from the start because the witches prophecies influence his future decision making. In 1984, Winston is doomed from the start because everyone is constantly being monitored so there is no way he can rebel without getting caught. Macbeth and Winston both have desires that become overpowered which causes them to do risky things.

Tragic Hero attributes in Humans life According to Manly P. Hall in The Secret Teachings of All Ages “To live in the world without becoming aware of the meaning of the world is like wandering about in a great library without touching the books” although this phrase is really meaningful, what if the writer changed the word “world” with “life”?. Then, no matter where someone lives or what king of belief he has, the phrase would mean the same thing to everyone. Books, literature and fictional characters are big examples of how humans live and act, how they respond and react. Tragic hero traits are present in human’s everyday life as much as in literature.
Macbeth does not deserve to be loaned the tragic hero title at all. There are many reasons why Macbeth should be defined as a merely monster instead of a tragic hero. So I going to let you know why I think he should known as a merely monster. Right off the
Ambition alone cannot be a tragic flaw, but when that characteristic controls someone to perform actions that lead to their downfall, then their ambition can be seen as a weight that holds them back from becoming a successful hero. Macbeth and Hitler are led to do terrible things because of their ambition, which sets them up as villains to be killed later in their lives. Macbeth’s ambition led him to kill King Duncan so he would assume the throne. Later, Macbeth killed other potential heirs to the throne, such as Banquo and an attempted murder on Banquo’s son, Fleance (Shakespeare). Hitler did something similar by assassinating any political opponents in his way to become chancellor, and later Führer, as well as killing or imprisoning anyone who spoke negatively of him or threatened his cause for world domination (“How Did Adolf Hitler Happen?”).
According to Aristotle, "A man doesn't become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall. An Aristotelian tragic hero must possess specific characteristics such as flaw or error of judgment (hamartia), a reversal of fortune brought about because of the hero's error in judgment, the discovery or recognition that the reversal was brought about by the hero's own actions, excessive pride (hubris) and the character's fate must be greater than deserved (The Poetics). In the end these factors lead to a fatal demise to which they are destined. Corresponding to Aristotle’s genre of tragedy Macbeth is in fact a tragic hero. Although his actions do not bestow nobleness, other characters imply that he is honorable for example when Duncan states “True, worthy Banquo.
“Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas in caradine, making the green one red.” Macbeth’s hamartia is that he has too much pride. He is so overconfident he doesn’t realise that he can’t fight fate. What makes MacBeth a tragic hero is that he is a important person in society, he has a weakness, and death makes the world a better place.
Hamartia is the fatal flaw of a tragic hero. Macbeth’s hamrita is being too ambitious. One if the time that Macbeth showed his ambition is when he killed Duncan. Macbeth killed Duncan because he wanted to be king, but before that, Duncan, the King of Scotland had just pronounced his son next in line for king. Macbeth says this to himself when he is preparing to kill Duncan.
Consequently, a war breaks out and takes Macbeth and his wife. Macbeth is considered a tragic hero because of his excessive pride, reversal of fate when Fleance escapes, and his tragic flaw ambition. Macbeth is a tragic hero because of his excessive pride. This can be seen in Act III Scene IV when Macbeth says, “Ourself will mingle with society, And play the humble host.”
In Macbeth, William Shakespeare portrays the end of a famed hero who chooses to go down a dark path, rather than choosing a path which would have led to glory, making him a tragic hero. When Macbeth is told his prophecy of becoming king, he intends on doing it on his own terms and decides to make impulsive decisions, such as killing Duncan, Banquo and slaughtering Macduff’s family. These impulsive decisions were an effect of Macbeth being blinded by becoming king, as he felt he had other options. Although it may seem that Macbeth was influenced by society to commit these atrocious acts, he was fully aware of the consequences and went ahead with his plan. Macbeth truly fits the role of a tragic hero as he brought his fate upon himself, through

In the play Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, many of the main characters can be classified as tragic heroes. A tragic hero can be labeled as a character with a fatal flaw which eventually leads to their downfall. However, I believe that the main character, Macbeth, is overall the biggest tragic hero within the play. Macbeth's selfish ambition, low self-esteem, and general obsession with more power all contributed to his grand title of being a tragic hero.
Villain, a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot. Just like the definition of villain states, they show traits just like macbeth. In Shakespeare 's “ The Tragedy of Macbeth”, the character Macbeth is displayed as the villain throughout the play. Macbeth shows the readers that his amiton gets in the way and makes him do things that are considered “evil” until the end of the play. Macbeth is thinking to himself that it is not fair that Duncan 's kids will become king so he kills Duncan and has his sons flee.
