Is Survival Selfish? Survival is a test of one's physical, mental, and emotional state. It is up to you whether to fight for survival or to give up. Which would you prefer: survival or death? Survival is not a self-centered goal. Survival is not selfish because it is a natural instinct that, depending on the nature of the problem, is essential to one's life.The controversy is that some people believe it is selfish to survive, but they haven't seen your point of view or know what the other point of the story was, so they assume you're being selfish and endangering others. Natural instinct is one of the reasons you can survive. It can warn you of impending danger before it arrives. Fight or flight is a great way to put your natural instincts to use.
