Is the American Dream a Reality or is it Fake?
America is a great place to live. As Americans, we have a lot of benefits that people in other countries do not have. Although most Americans appreciate what they have, there are still those that take it for granted. Many people from all race and religions come to the United States in search of living the American Dream. These people want to live in a place that they are treated equal, a place that they are able to achieve success and live in prosperity through hard work without being held back by a government or their community. A person can look at the American Dream and think that they are living it but they are not realizing what it really is. People may think that they are living the Dream because they have a nice home with a big yard and a nice car but they have so much debt that they will not be able to ever pay it all off. This country lives off of credit and if you do not have it you will usually not be able to buy a nice home or car. If children are not taught at a young age that they need to be aware of what they can and can not afford and how to save their money, it could result in hurting them for the rest of their lives. For those that are born into a wealthy family with responsible parents should have a better chance to succeed. On the other hand, though there are kids that are born into poor families that sometimes on have one parent that is not around all of the time because they have to work long hours so that they can provide for their children. These kids usually fall into the wrong surroundings because they do not have any guidance on what they should do and what choices they should make. Mark Fleisher Says that the “social and economic pressure,”(3) can have negative effects as well as “parental neglect, household poverty, crime, and drug addiction”(3) can.
