Isaac Marion, the author of Warm Bodies, focuses on many different things while writing his novel. One of the things he stresses on is the use of teamwork. Throughout the novel he portrays the importance of teamwork, for both the zombies and the humans. In addition to focusing on how teamwork helps each “side” get through the task they have at hand we could see that there are certain ways that the team should be separated in order to be efficient. Throughout the novel, the humans are faced with a lot of challenges whose chances of success would increase through the use of teamwork. Even though they’re both on opposing sides, they both structure their ideas in the same manner. In the novel, Marion structures both the zombies and the humans thinking habits in a similar manner, especially when it comes to execution of plans and surviving. This demonstrates the importance teamwork is to him. Furthermore, the zombies use teamwork to help R get to his lover who is human; despite the fact they’re on opposing teams. This shows another important message that Marion tries to portray, which is that love has no boundaries. This is emphasized not only because they’re on opposing team, but also since R is a Zombie who’s practically dead while Julie is a living human. In general, teamwork is an important feature of many different organisms’ lives’. In the novel, it is especially helpful for both the humans and the zombies. In real life we can see its importance to ants, but they are obviously not the only species that use teamwork in order to survive. We can also see how both the humans and zombies use the steps given by the university of Minnesota in order to make functional teams to get certain jobs done.
