Newton’s Dark Secrets Sir Isaac Newton, arguably one of the most iconic minds to grace the earth with his brilliance, was not the person that people of this age believed him to be. During the documentary about Isaac Newton, many things were revealed about the person who we thought him to be versus the person he actually was. From his reclusiveness to his alchemy to his devout religious beliefs, Isaac Newton was certainly different from the way we saw him before the publishing of this documentary. However, one thing that stood out to me the most was the fact that he was more on the introverted, reclusive side. I,also, had another question and that was why does this matter? Throughout this entire documentary, it struck me as odd that someone of his brilliance and his intelligence was so introverted. Maybe that was just the way things were done in his time, but I would believe Sir Isaac Newton to be very open and proud with all of his findings. I, also, expected him to be doing something similar to presentations with his work because he didn't strike me as the type of person to sit on his findings. And I'm aware that he did publish a book of his findings, but after some slight opposition, he really did not publish his findings until the opposition had died. This was the point where Newton’s differences were hone in for me. Most people of his time practiced alchemy to make a profit, but he did it just to learn. It also struck me as odd that even though he did more work outside of science and math that none of that work was really published. I understand that an individual would want to publish the success and disregard the failures, but since his failures were a part of the learning track, and not the profit track, I would think he would publish them just so someone could finish his work.
