Isaac Newton was an English mathematician, astronomer, and physicist who was born in 1642 and passed away in 1727. Newton discovered lots of scientific and mathematical concepts. When Isaac was a young boy he was actually not to great of a student when he was in school. He liked to invent things much more than he liked school. One thing that it is said he had invented was a windmill that was used to grind grain. This caused him to do very poorly in school. Unfortunately, when Newton was fourteen he had to leave school. This was not done by choice but it needed to be done. This was so that he could help his mother with farming. Help was needed after his father's death. Isaac eventually returned to school. Before he did though he tried to spend a lot of time reading while he was on the farm. It came time In June of 1661 for Newton to decide to continue his education. This caused him in that same year to start his college career. He started his college career at Trinity College, Cambridge. Something that influenced his decision making was an uncle of his who though he saw great potential in Newton. Newton graduated from Cambridge in 1665. He however did not graduate with any particular honors. …show more content…

At the time that he helped create calculus it was not called calculus it was actually called fluxions. By “Relying on the works of Galileo, Kepler, and Descartes”, he was able to do this.( “Isaac Newton”) A discovery Newton had made about calculus was that it could be used find the answers to problems. For example if you were trying to find the speed of a ball that has been thrown in the air, you could calculate the speed of the ball at any moment while the ball was in flight. Someone else who discovered calculus was Gottfried Leibniz who was a German mathematician. With the new information that these two mathematicians had discovered it allowed more discoveries to be
