Issac Newton An English physicist and mathematician, Isaac Newton is most famous for figuring out the law of gravity. He was very important in the scientific revolution in the 17th century. On January 4, 1643, Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. As a child he never knew his father, who was also named Isaac Newton, because his father died three months before Newton was even born. He was only three years old when his mother, Hannah Ayscough Newton, remarried to a minister named Barnabas Smith. She decided to go and live with Mr. Smith, leaving Isaac Newton with his maternal grandmother to take care of him. When Isaac Newton …show more content…
It is said that It is the single most influential book on physics and possibly all of science of all time. This work gives three basic laws for bodies in motion. 1) A stationary body will stay stationary unless an external force is applied to it; 2) Force is equal to mass times acceleration, and a change in motion is proportional to the force applied; and 3) For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The three laws explain nearly every single type of motion there is in the universe. These laws also helped Isaac Newton to figure out the mass of each planet, how the gravitational pull of the sun and moon create the Earth’s tides, and calculate the flattening of the Earth at the poles and the bulge at the …show more content…
He no longer found any interest in his position at Cambridge and was found to be involved in other issues. Though a lot of the scientists on the continent continued to teach the mechanical world according to Aristotle, a young generation of British scientists became very fascinated with Newton's new view of the physical world and recognized him as their leader. Later, in a few years’ time Newton had another nervous breakdown. Near the end of his life Newton lived at Cranbury Park, near Winchester, England, with his niece, Catherine (Bancroft) Conduitt, and her husband, John Conduitt. Newton had become one of the most famous people in Europe. Even though he had lots of fame he never had the perfect life you would want. He never married or made many friends. By the time he reached the age of 80 he was beginning to experience digestive problems, and had to drastically change his diet and mobility. Later in March of 1727, he had severe pain in his abdomen and blacked out. The next day he died, which was March 31, 1727, at age
