Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643, in Woolsthorpe, England. He was an established physicist and mathematician, and is credited as one of the great minds of the 17th century Scientific Revolution. People admired him because he discovered the answers to some of the most difficult questions of his time. With discoveries in optics, motion and mathematics, Newton developed the principles of modern physics. His most famous piece of work, Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica was published in 1687. This book was one of the most influential books about physics. Newton passed away on march 31st, 1727 making him 84 years old(Miller). At the age of 12 years old, Newton had been enrolled in King's School in Grantham, and was introduced …show more content…

These laws apply to most physics of motion but not all modern day physics. “The first law says that an object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion, with the same direction and speed.(physics4kids)” An example of this law is that if you are in a car going 50 MPH, and you throw a ball in the air, the ball will not fly to the back of the car because the ball is already in motion, there fore it will stay with you while the car is still moving. If you throw the ball straight up and then abruptly stop the car, the ball will not stay with you, It will continue to go forward to the front of the car until it is stopped. “The second law says that the acceleration of an object produced by a net applied force is directly related to the magnitude of the force, the same direction as the force, and inversely related to the mass of the object” This law is saying that if the masses of two objects, they will have a different acceleration speed. Id a soft ball is rolled down a hill, it will have a different acceleration speed than a truck being rolled down a …show more content…

Optics is the scientific study of sight and the behavior of light, or the properties of transmission and deflection of other forms of radiation. In a simpler form, it is the study of light and it is something that is used every day between cellphone cameras, copiers and projectors. Newton had don a large amount of research in optics and had written a book about the findings. “His crucial experiment showing that white light is composite consisted in taking beam of white light and passing it through a prism; the result is a wide beam displaying a spectrum of colors.”(UCR.edu) The conclusion of this experiment came to be that white light is made up of a ray of different color beams. The first lectures Newton had as a professor were on Optics, he was very fascinated by light that he put him self at risk for becoming blind. He would spend hours staring at the sun, and would poke the sides of his eyeballs with a bodkin to see how things would affect his sight. “These experiments, together with a number of rather more sensible ones, led him to formulate revolutionary theories about the nature of the spectrum and the refraction of light.
