The Devils Arithmetic is about a Jewish girl named Hannah. It starts off at the Passover dinner. Hannah doesn’t understand why she has to go to this, and why she can’t just eat Easter candy like her friend. Hannah is also confused at why her Grandpop Will is yelling at the T.V because of a program about the Holocaust. She remembers that when she was little she wrote a long number on her arm to match the one her Grandpop had.

This quote taken from the Haitian Declaration of Independence can be broken down into sections showing how Jean-Jacques Dessalines was able to rally his Country together to fight for their right to become a sovereign State. To begin, the declaration uses the phrase “Native Citizens” to bring a sense of nationalism to all citizens who are reading at the time. This sense of nationalism to start off the quote is attempting to rally the people of Haiti together, which is an idea that will continued to be brought up. The declaration follows this by telling all people to cast their gaze on their island. To understand what the next part of the quote one must know that the Haitian Declaration of Independence was proclaimed on January 1st,1804, an era in which gender equality didn’t exist and the man was thought of as the only liable worker and soldier.
The first piece of artwork I critiqued was the famous Virgin of Guadalupe. The Virgin of Guadalupe is currently exhibited in the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The piece of art is not solely a painting, but an enconchado. It was made into wood, and it essentially creates a reflective surface that appears as moving. Also, I like how they explain their theory on the woman of the apocalypse and how it relates to this piece of art.
Latin American Independence : Haitian Revolution The Haitian Revolution was a slave-led revolt in the French colony known as Saint-Domingue. This event helped eliminate slavery and led to the formation of the Republic of Haiti. Additionally, it was the only slave revolt that led to the founding of a state. The Haitian Revolution is even said to be the most successful slave rebellion between Europe and the Americas.
How does Huck change? In Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Huck's actions change throughout the book. Not following his conscience, alters Huck's actions. By not following his conscience, he alters his actions when he starts telling the truth, views the world differently, and helps Jim escape. One day sitting in her room, Anita look out her window to see no one left on the compound. Anita explains, “I look out the door and down the dark driveway. The whole flock of our family has fled.
