The importance of “Islam” is peace and submission, therefore a person who follows or believes this religion is called a Muslim (Introduction to Islam). The Qur’an is the holy book of Islam which means “the timeless words of god”. In the Qur’an Muslims believed god had revealed 99 prophet of his name. Muslims honor several prophets in addition to one of them is Prophet Mohammad. In 570 A.D the prophet Mohammad was born in the Mecca he also was the founder of Islam. The prophet Mohammad was considered the last prophet. In 622 CE Islam originated from the Arabian Peninsula (Islam). The five pillars of Islam are state individually throughout the Qur’an. Prophet Mohammad was the one to list them together in the hadith (report) when he was asking to define Islam. Prophet Mohammad death few decades later, that the five pillars are practice and believed to bring rewards in this life and afterlife. The 5 pillars that the Islamic religion practices are faith, salat (prayer), zakat (charity), Ramadan and hajj (pilgrimage). The first of the Five Pillars is the declaration of Faith or also is called (Shahadah). The shahada is a basic requirement of being a Muslim. The phrase they have to memorize is “there is no god but Allah and that Mohammad is his messenger (Five Pillars of Islam). If you want to become a Muslim or non-Muslim you have to repeat the shahadah three times in front of witness which is Ash-hadu al laa ilaaha illallah WA ash-hadu anna Muhammad Ur rasulullah (Islamic path). Every year in the 9th month of the Islamic calendar is when the fasting begins. All adults and kids at the age of 10 are obligatory too fast for the 30 days. The kids at age 10 it helps them develop self-control, laziness and overcome selfishness (5 pillars of Islam). The month of Ramadan is to encourage Islam’s to seek nearness to Allah by the less fortunate some people have. During Ramadan Muslims are required sunrise to sunset abstain food, drink and sexual intercourse (5 pillars of Islam). With addition to these also refrain from anger, gossip, violence bad language and other inappropriate actions and thoughts (Islamic path). After the month or the 30 days Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Fitr this is the feast breaking of the fast.
