Jack is a great character to show how the theme developed through him. Jack split from the group and went a little crazy and would attack Ralph's group and the killing of Simon (chapter 9). In chapter 9 Jack attacks what he thought was the beast even with the fear of it being bigger and stronger than him. They didn't know what the beast was capable of; they knew nothing about it. Jack had the opportunity to kill the beast and did.

Jack has a huge ego in this novel. However, I do feel that Jacks ego is what helps him to survive on the island differently than the others, instead of trying to get his hopes up of being saved, he focuses strictly on what any normal human being would do and that is to survive. Though only thinking of himself during his stay with others on the island does not help him to survive and better. Also, Jack has a masculine, brave, and strong personality. Jack’s ego can get in the way sometimes.
Jack is a dangerous and unworthy choice to lead the boys in Lord of the Flies. For example, as the novel progresses Jack “tried to convey the compulsion to track down and kill that was swallowing him up” (Golding 51). His desire to shed blood is greater than his desire to be rescued, so he is thoughtless and foolish in his actions. Maybe it is more than that; perhaps he is blinded by the desire to prove his superiority to Ralph. Later, Jack and the boys set the island on fire when trying to hunt down Ralph.
Throughout the novel, both the earth and O-lan supply the necessities for the Wang family. The earth is the foundation of the house, providing the family with shelter, as well as being what the stove, pots, and dishes are made of. Wang Lung grows crops, such as rice, wheat and corn, on his land. Not only do these crops feed the Wang family, but Lung can sell them in the market to get money. With this money, Lung can buy other necessities, such as fabric for clothing.
Jack’s Character Development in The Shining Imagine a small family going out to stay in an empty hotel, all alone in the deep Rocky Mountains. The Torrance family began to caretake a hotel in the middle of winter in a hotel far in the Rockies. Jack, who was the recovering alcoholic father, thought it was the perfect way to get his life back in order; he jumped at the opportunity to have some free time because he was a writer and he wanted some time to be able to continue his writing. By him taking the job at the hotel also came with some worries; there had previously been a family brutally murdered by the father, but Jack had no worries, he just thought it gave the place a more interesting look.
Jack lost his sanity and civility and this changed him in more ways than imaginable. Jack was a natural leader when the boys first came onto the island, but as time continued he became a horrible dictator. On the first day on the island, Ralph and Jack competed for chief of the island. Ralph won. Jack was unhappy with this result, but it didn’t yet throw him into a spiral of craze and anger.
Jack is a recovering alcoholic who struggles with his thoughts, guilt and has flashbacks about his past transgressions. Wendy is a strong character and loving wife who has blonde hair. Danny is a five year old boy who is self-reliant whose vocabulary is way beyond his year. Furthermore, Jack friend Al Shockley hires him to watch the Overlook Hotel.
The world is a big place; it is so diverse, and differences are celebrated. In that case, does it really matter that two things are alike? When in fact the differences found in the two things are the details that make them unique. Uniqueness is what makes something beautiful in this exotic world. So, there are the characters, Anansi and Iktomi, who are two uniquely different tricksters.
But, as the story continues, the freedom the island has gets into Jack's mind and causes him to becomes power-hungry, evil and savage. His hunger for power starts off small with comments he makes like this one he says in the beginning of the book, "I ought to be chief, because I'm chapter chorister and head boy. The Love We Hide It is Carl Rogers, a psychologist, who came up with the theory that all people were born good, but they were spoiled by the bad people of the world. We all are born with simple traits like love and compassion, but it’s our bring-up that determines who we will become. In The Help, we see two maids and one white woman convey their love and compassion, not just to better their own lives but to improve the lives of others like their bosses and the children they take care of. Notably, one of our first maids Aibileen demonstrates her loving care and compassion she holds for others and not just those of her own skin color.
Many of the men who died in the water during the five days died because they lost hope that they'd be rescued. Hope will push anyone to do anything. A wife to move on after her husband's passing, a cancer patient to keep moving forward, and stranded sailors to continue living. These small acts of hope are what many survivors claimed kept them going during those terrible nights.
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson.
The first difference between Ralph and Jack is that they have different ways of organizing things on the island. Ralph wants to lead everyone to work together to get off the island in a civilized order. Jack also wants to lead everyone but not in the same, properly ordered way as Ralph. When they first meet on the island, everyone who was stranded on the island wanted to be organized into some type of governing body so that they were ordered.
