Worldwide issues occur every second of the day, harming many individuals in its path. For example, The president of the United States is having a controversy with North Korea’s president. Causing some threats to be heard and influencing bad actions against one another’s land. Anyways, I am not here to discuss that problem. I’m here to discuss problems that have occurred in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird and how they relate to our difficult problems nowadays. Tom Robinson is a colored man, blamed for raping and beating a white woman named Mayella. As a lawyer, Atticus was told to defend Tom Robinson and received a massive amount of hate while doing so. A white man defending a colored man? Wasn’t what other white individuals appreciated at all during this time. Jim Crow laws were still up and running, that action made many white people disapprove of the existence of the colored race. When the trial took place, Atticus looked for specific evidence to prove that Tom was innocent and caused no harm to Mayella. In the end, Atticus presented to the jury his feelings towards the trial and using kind words to describe Tom. Although, the evidence was clear and Atticus words were definitely touching and true Tom was announced guilty of the crime. This scene has shown courage and confidence towards Atticus. Even though he received hate from defending a colored man and even lost, at the end of the day he did his duty. Atticus has defended for what’s right, he has been brave through all! Him even using emotions and kind words towards takes courage, to defend for a colored man in front of many white individuals takes confidence and courage. To compare, problems like this also occur around the world. An example could be a man, he is getting charged with a murder that didn’t even take place. A majority of people is hating on him, calling him names and throwing items. Gets in a trial, found guilty, and after a so the number of years he’s released from jail. Many that have gotten out of jail has to build up the courage to do anything because all their known as are “ criminals .” Then one day, you have that choice to share your story and you take that chance.
