Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are institutions of higher education in the United States founded primarily for the education of African Americans. Prior to the mid-1960s, HBCUs were virtually the only institutions open to African Americans due to the vast majority of predominantly white institutions prohibiting qualified African Americans from acceptance during the time of segregation. As such, they are institutional products of an era of discrimination and socially constructed racism against African Americans (Joseph, 2013). Successfully, millions of students have been educated in spite of limited resources, public contempt, accreditation violations, and legislative issues. The purpose of this research paper is to discuss

Every day, African Americans had to fight for there life and equality.
Harborfest Tall ships, fireworks, and fun...for free! The 39th Annual Norfolk Harborfest event, Virginia 's largest summertime festival, sails into view June 5-7 at Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. This is my first time visiting Harborfest because I really do not enjoy ships; however, I enjoyed the good entertainment, food, and friends.
Traverse City Michigan is a small town in Northern Michigan, with a port, an airport, a rail system running through it, and lots of roads. While there is most likely the most freight carried through trucking on the roads, I would like to talk about the shipping industry. Because Traverse City is located with access to the Lake Michigan there is obviously a great deal of materials shipped over the water. Water is the cheapest, besides pipeline, of the 5 major transportation modes; if a city is located on the water it makes sense to take advantage of it. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation in 2009 the port of Traverse City transported somewhere between 100,000 and 900,000 tons of freight.

It was served with black beans, rice, cotija cheese, avocado slices, and warm corn tortillas. I chose this plate because I love shrimp and have not had it in this style before. The shrimp was delicious and I really enjoyed the sautéed vegetables with it. I enjoyed the black beans and rice together on the side. The cotija cheese was something that I was not familiar with, but I ended up really enjoying it with my meal.
