J.B. Priestley was born in September 13, 1894 and died in August 14, 1984. He was an English Writer, Novelist, playwright, broadcaster, and script writer. Some of his plays are “Dangerous Corner” “When We Are Married” and the most famous is “An Inspector Calls”. An Inspector Calls was written in 1945 but set in 1912. The setting of the story is just one room and one day. This story/play was talking about a family who were having a little engagement but it didn’t last long when Inspector Goole entered. He knows how to make people talk like what Sheila said “he’s giving us the rope so that we’ll hang ourselves”. He stated what he likes “one person and one line enquiry at a time”. They take turns talking to him and everyone was completely honest in front of everyone. He knows how to cover himself up in any situation like when Mr. Birling talked about other inspectors he just declined and completed inspecting. He was always leaving the readers/audience cliff hangers. “Goole” means a supernatural or ghost element. Also, when he introduced Eva’s death “Two hours ago a young women died in the infirmary. She’d been taken there this afternoon because she swallowed a lot of strong disinfectant. Burnt her inside out, off course.” He used plain and simple words and language but it affected them hardly. His language makes The Birlings to spill and confess everything. Then he had to leave early because he knows the true inspector is going to arrive soon. He wasn’t a real inspector so who is he?
