National Junior Honor Society Essay Being a member of National Junior Honor Society interests me in a number of ways. I believe I excel in all five criteria of NJHS: academics, leadership, service, citizenship, and character, and being a part of this national organization will help me improve much more in each of the categories. I am also interested knowing that having membership in NJHS will help my future career and bring a lasting impression to many people. Scholarship is important in people’s lives; it both helps their futures and encourages them to do more work academic related. I have succeeded in many tasks academically.
To make a significant change in the world, countless hours of preparation, of work, and proactive cooperation with others are crucial for success. I partake in few extra-curricular activities, but I have dedicated years of my life to them all. On a regular week, I have to balance French club and National French Honor Society secretary duties, community service for National Honor Society, and additional choir practice for at least two hours after school each week (while sometimes performing community service with the choir as well). I want to become an engineer; so I take AP classes that are useful and interest me because I will need to know advanced math and science concepts in college. All of these extra-curricular activities and academics will become even more relevant when it is time for me to advance my future goals of pursuing a higher education and making significant efforts to aid the world by designing helpful technology with medical applications.
Throughout middle school and my first 2 years in high school, I’ve gotten mainly As in my classes with an occasional B here and there. So in my junior year of high school, when I heard that I can take more than 1 AP course, I immediately wanted to challenge myself. I registered for 4 AP courses along with orchestra, and spanish on top of my extracurriculars. “Are you trying to kill yourself?” is what all my friends asked when I told them about my plan.
Deciding to attend Texas A&M University was both a hardship and immense, opportunity in my life. Coming from a close knit background, and possessing a very family oriented character, my decision to come to this incredible institution was one out of my comfort zone. If I was to be asked one year ago, If I could ever see myself standing on this marvelous campus, attending one of the top schools in the nation, I would have honestly responded, no. My counselors would have said no, my friends, my college advisor, my family. The answer would not have been yes, not because I wasn 't capable of meeting the standards to attend, but because there seemed more obstacles in my way than there was forces pushing me forward.
However, I have not allowed this fact to permit urban students to outperform me. By actively communicating with my counselor and administrators, I maximized my educational career. I doubled my math classes, became one of the few to enroll in physics, convinced my Spanish teacher to unprecedently offer third year Spanish, and became Hopi High’s first AP student. At home, I delved into subjects that my school did not offer, such as: philosophy, music, Korean language and history. I have became a dynamic learner to overcome the limit that my environment set, and with this kind of attitude, I believe that I can grow and learn far more in college.
While I was thoroughly committed to the extracurricular activities, I have decided that my academic career was the best way to focus my abilities in order to reach my goal. Doing well in all of my IB classes has been my number one priority. With education being my number one priority, I strive to maintain a high grade point average. At the beginning of the junior year, I struggled with finding a manageable balance between all my activities. My GPA dropped due to my struggles in the beginning of the year.
If I were apart of the AP program I would succeed because of the academic strengths I show and have. These strengths include my hard-working personality, my determination, and my initiative skills. Moreover, I am a quick learner and can communicate my ideas
AP classes can be very beneficial to students. These courses reduce the amount of money and time spent in college. They also are more beneficial than college intro classes. Lastly, these classes help prepare you for the workload of college. AP courses reduce the time you have to spend in college.
Zuhei. M GLPO Spring Essay This is second semester soon to be a senior, it's nerve wrecking but exciting at the same time. Throughout my second semester I have grown in investigating the world and communicate ideas and grown my knowledge and College Career Readiness as a student. This semester has me stressed more than I have before, so stressed about AP exams and college readiness.
In my future, I hope to continue the skills I have acquired during this English class. I think that they will be very obliging to me, nevertheless of what I am trying to achieve. In this course, I was encountered with deadlines, instructions, and assignments that I could not work around. I found that all of these responsibilities have made me comprehend that I could definitely take the next step forward in life.
Growing up, my parents taught me to find ways to give back and to leave places better than I found them. I believe speech pathology is an excellent way for me to achieve that. I have a cousin named Jesse that struggled with a speech impairment when we were little; what I took for granted with speech did not come easily to him. Every day, Jesse struggled to communicate with others and with his self-confidence. As he worked with a speech therapist, it not only improved his communication skills, but changed his life as he felt confident speaking with others.
As a college freshmen, there is no doubt that I still have a long ways to go in order to achieve my academic goals. And through this journey, I know that I will encounter highs and lows just as I experienced in the past, most notability in high school. I keenly remember instances around this time where I doubted my abilities when subjects like math was proving to be difficult, even when I was trying to put in effort to stay on track. I was struggling in math because I did not try to identify my weaknesses, and never tried to come up with solutions to fix my problems. Rather, I chose to give up on math and settle with a grade barely passing.
There was no doubt in my mind that I tried my hardest in the classes; I just did not have as much faith in myself when it came to the test day. In AP U.S. History, I did my homework religiously every weekend on Sunday afternoons by delving into each chapter as much as possible and enjoying what I was reading. For AP Language and Composition by creating a word wall in my room in order to improve my vocabulary. All the weekends spent doing homework and more for these classes paid off in a way I never would have imagined. I finally was able to believe my hard work towards achieving a goal could actually be rewarded.
This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students of GVSU, and I am honored to be considered for this scholarship. I believe that I am a great applicant for this scholarship, and that I deserve this scholarship. One reason I deserve this scholarship is because of my strong academic courses. Throughout my high school career, I pushed myself academically by taking a total of 10 AP classes and 7 honors classes. These classes were all challenging, yet I pushed through with determination to complete the classes to the best of my ability.
