Auggie had a positive experience at school because he got smarter and made new friends. An example of this is Jack and Auggie’s spud lamp science fair project. Jack and Auggie got an A on the project, and Jack was “psyched” because it was the only A he had gotten all year. This shows that Auggie can learn and do things like normal kids. This also made Jack and Auggie closer friends. This is an example of how school had a positive impact on him. Another example of the claim is the day Auggie showed up to school with his new hearing aids. Auggie thought the kids would make a big deal would make a big deal about them. Though when he came to school with them on, nobody made a big deal about them. This shows that people don’t purposefully bully Auggie, with Julian being an exception. This shows that Auggie, throughout the school year, was a friend to other students in the school and they were his friend in return, even if it was only a few people in the beginning of the year. He showed kindness to the other students and that made them want to be friends with him.Auggie shows courage by deciding to go to school over the summer, even though he doubts it at first. In conclusion, Auggie had a positive experience because of the friends he makes and the things he learns. In the beginning of the year, Auggie is neglected and at times bullied. By the end of the year, he is friends with most of the people in his grade. Many of the students don’t expect him to be very smart, since he had been home-schooled up until this point.
