Way back in 1919 he hit 137 home runs, had 734 runners batted in, and 197 stolen bases. ("Jackie Robinson Career Home Runs") The color of your skin should have nothing to do with how you play; your race is nothing, but a color and he surely proves that. Jack Roosevelt Robinson, aka Jackie Robinson, a worldwide known baseball player, is known for changing baseball. His accomplishment changed baseball. Jackie Robinson influenced this generation and other generations by being a family oriented guy, never giving up in the face of prejudice, and making sports integrated forever.

He played with the negro league until April 11th, 1947, when got recruited by the Dodgers. On April 15, 1947 is when everything; Jackie Robinson is an official team member of the Dodgers. When this happened he was the headline of several magazines, such as Time & Life magazine. Once everybody found out it finally hit Jackie that he was the first official black person in the MLB. Robinson was overly stoked about it, but knew he had to keep his composure. He did not want to start any more drama than what there was already. With that being said he never fought back when he would hear comments from white people saying, “You don’t belong here,” “Go back home to your momma,” “The big league is for white people only, get this monkey out of here.” He heard several comments and never did anything about it; until one year the Dodgers played the Phillies and they were yelling racial slurs. At this point Jackie has had it; he mentioned it to his coach that he could not handle it anymore and his coach took care of everything. Jackie did not want to seem like a punk to those guys, but he knew if he had said something other black people may never get the chance to play a sport, and we would be back to where he was as a young child.
