Jackie Robinson What do you think of when you hear the number forty-two? Well i think about Jackie Robinson. How his life was before the major leagues, what he did during the major leagues, and what came after and how he was honored.
January thirty-first in Cairo, Georgia, making the youngest of five Jackie Robinson was born. When Jackie Robinson was only six months old his dad left him, and leaving Jackie without a dad. Growing up Jackie was educated at John Muir High School. Where he also participated in four sports track, football, basketball, and of course baseball. He also attended college at UCLA and playing the same four sports as he did in high school. Jackie was cut short from graduation at UCLA because of commercial problems. One thing he his really well known for is being the first african american person to play in the major leagues. Since he was an african american he experienced a lot of criticism from white people, who did not like the fact that a person of different color was playing in the major leagues. Jackie was told not to fight back even when Even with that going on in his life Jackie did not give up, he went on to win the Rookie of the Year Award, and the National League Most Valuable Player in 1949.
