Andrew Jackson took office in 1829, but had shortly after that had to deal with the Nullification Crisis. When he was dealing with these conflicts he became concerned about the economic problems. After the Nullification crisis was over he got many federal authority. Although he got this authority he was not comfortable with the other greater federal power, which was the Second Bank of the United States. He even stated that he wanted it to die “I will kill it”, he said making it very clear he wants it done.
Jackson received harsh criticism for acting without the consent of Congress since he had gone beyond the scope of his constitutional authority. During this era of his reign, he is behaving as though he is the king and is obstructing every other thing. Jackson was the first president to declare that the president is the most important democratically elected official in the country and to greatly expand executive power. Furthermore, Jackson had engaged in the Spoils System and Rotation of Officeholders during his presidency. The Spoils System addressed a method of having favoritism towards a person or group.
Justification “Andrew Jackson and search for Vindication” by James C. Curtis, presents the life of young Jackson and his traumatic ordeals that lead him to develop an unhealthy obsession for his deprived mentality of the term, justice. The author develops Jackson’s obsession through childhood experiences with the loss of family that is incredibly linked to violent battles. Curtis uses these traumas to emphasize Jackson’s character progression throughout the novel to better understand the complexity of Jackson’s paranoid views on the corruption of U.S. government and his selfish search for justice. His ardent desire for “justice” is nothing more than his selfish desire to be right in his reaction to the violence of war and the government itself.

President Jackson, being the most popular candidate, was the first President to actually think of himself as the head of democracy and the one who answered the “common man's” will. Another thing that Old Hickory Jackson is famous for is his war against Nicholas Biddle and the national banking system. The president triumphed in this war with the veto of a congressional act aiming to extend the bank's charter and by pulling capital out of the bank to redistribute to the states.

While some presidents have made policies that were detrimental for our nation at the time, Andrew Jackson’s policies were detrimental then and continue to be a source of outrage in our nation today. While Andrew Jackson believed he was making great strives for the nation he displacing an entire population of people from their rightful lands, and is the creator of the corrupt policy known as the spoils system. No one president has caused more damage to his fellow Americans than Andrew Jackson himself, and because of this, he deserves to be impeached and removed from office.

However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.

The founders of the United States did their best to create a government that would not allow erroneous decisions to greatly harm the nation. They set a percent of presidents being politically sound and well-known; their beliefs for how the nation should be handled were essential to their campaign. President Andrew Jackson, however, did not follow this system, instead winning primarily by his personality and popularity amongst the common American. While his actions in office often appeared to be for the people, most had a hidden selfish side to them that he easily covered up. With the election of 1828, Jackson radically changed American politics, focusing them more on public appearance and personal character than on intelligence and political views, making personality just as, if not more important than the actual politics of a political term.
President Jackson was named the president of the “common man,” However, the only way this statement is true, is if the “common man,” was a white man. President Jackson was a bigot, he said he was the president of the common man, but his actions differed greatly. Hence, the saying actions are louder than words, and President Jackson's actions truly were louder than words. In fact, he promoted slavery by removing American Indians off their land, so that he could get cotton land for white Americans. Also, He violated the first amendment by ordering Southern postmasters to stop the delivery of anti-slavery literature in the South.
One of the biggest thing that Jackson had done as a president was in 1832. Jackson vetoed a bill that would renew the second bank charter early. Jackson stated “I will kill it!”. He said this because he didn’t like the bank at all and he believed that it made the rich richer and the poor poorer. He said in his veto message “It is easy to conceive that great evils to our country and its institutions might flow from such a concentration of power in the hands of a few men irresponsible to the people.”
Jackson ignored the Supreme Court. He continued forcing indians out the west. This journey is known as the Trail of Tears. One-fourth of indians died from this journey. Just because Jackson was put on the $20 bill doesn’t mean he did not do bad things.
Andrew Jackson disobeyed a direct order from the Supreme Court, which it means he was above the law. I really wonder how Americans tolerated him, at that time, he was cruel to the Indian common man. Because of him, the Native Americans have the worst end of the Trail of Tears. They are the ones who are forced out of their traditional homes and sent away on a journey of pain and death. Those who had fallen ill, most of the time died, and those who had the will to move on were able to make it to the end and start new lives.
