The story of the first pair of “blue jeans” is a very interesting and was created by two immigrants who we can thank for the modern pair of jacket shorts and the famous skinny jeans and every brand of jeans. Jacob Davis was born in Jacob Youphes in Latvia and arrived in 1857, in the city of New York at age 23. Davis married Annie Davis during a visit to Canada in search for work, Jacob Davis had six children with Annie Davis, then both returned to America in 1867.
Jacob Davis created the "jeans” which refers to the term “blue jeans”. During Jacob Davis lifetime the men used clothing made from cotton material. “Davis invention came to him in 1870 after one of his customers complained about her husband’s pants ripping from weak pocket structure and the pants would wear off very quickly. After Jacob Davis agreed to the project Davis developed an idea to use copper rivets to reinforce the pockets and seams of the pants.” The invention was desired for work, such as

Levi Strauss soon established wholesome business, in which he imported fabric, bedding among other goods. Strauss was successful in selling among other drugstores. The new invention made thousands and quickly made big profits. With the secure contract of all rights secured, Levi Strauss& Co. became the only company to make riveted clothing for nearly twenty years. But then when the contract expired many other manufacturers copied the invention. “The visionary immigrants who transformed denim and small pieces of metal into the most popular clothing product in the world probably never imagined how famous they would become. Indeed, no other clothing product has been identified more with American culture, especially the American West” . The official birth of jeans is 1871, but they were patented on May 20, 1873.
