William Larrabee, son of Adam Larrabee, and Hannah Nee Lester was born on January 20, 1832. William was in a family of 9 brothers and sisters. Larrabee is said to be one of Iowa’s greatest politician and person. When William was around 15 he lost his right on in a shooting accident. Because of this William was denied to fight in the Civil War.
The book American Reformers, 1815-1860 by Ronald G. Waters was originally published in 1978 by Hill and Wang publishing company. This book describes the reformation that took place in America, its affects, and what was necessary to get the word out about its ideas. The reformation was an important step in the development of the idea that the negative aspect of a nation’s society could be done away with through an individual’s endeavors. The first chapter of the book deals with how economics, transportation revolution, and politics played a part in the antebellum reformation. It explained how reformers felt about America’s immoral leaders and the laws that they thought would make Americans “behave.”

Thoreau emphasizes the significant roles that authenticity and activism play in one’s life, which encourage action and renounce determinism. By presenting the central ideas that arise from this essay, I will argue that Thoreau, supported by Locke’s Treatise of Government, exhibits ideas affiliated with Libertarianism. In times of war, soldiers must surpass obstacles and be ready to face challenges. Witnessing the valiant efforts of these men that throw their lives on the line instills an insurmountable sense of pride in the hearts of spectators. Both Lord Alfred Tennyson’s poem and Richard Caton Woodville Jr.’s illustration entitled “The Charge of the Light Brigade” incorporate literary terms to express their feeling of pride towards the Light Brigade. Tennyson exhibits this by using repetition to signify the danger of fighting in battle, in addition to imagery to help the reader imagine how terrifying war is, while setting a respectful tone. Woodville shows a feeling of pride through the setting, symbolism, and powerful imagery.
The movie, Freedom Writers did a very good job displaying the poor education system that was changing the lives of students already barely surviving in the violence and gangs. The use of the comparison of visuals what something the producers seemed to commonly use. The comparison of good to poor school materials was agonizing to see, especially with a up-close shot to Mrs. Gruwell trying to keep a smile on her face. Children are the future of our world, but many still will disown kids that aren 't the same ethnic background. Realizing this was essential, and luckily Erin Gruwell was able to do it and ultimately save her kids lives.
