James Langston Hughes was born on February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri, United States. He died on May 22, 1967 in New York, United States. Langston Hughes is forever remembered as one of the greatest African American poets of all time. When he was young in high school his father divorced his mother because of improper behavior between them and moved with Langston to Mexico.
