Based off of the two argumentive essays, I believe that Alexander Joy Cartwright is the actual inventor of baseball. One of my reasons for my beliefs is that according to Alexander Joy Cartwright, the Inventor of Baseball, "Doubleday... enrolled at West Point, some 150 miles away." As well as that being said, he never once mentioned creating such a sport in any of his journal entries. In Abner 's essay, it was arguing that he created baseball, but it doesn 't mention a diary once. It only cites accounts from one of his friends, Abner Grave, who could have easily been arguing in favor of Doubleday, when all along it was Alexander.
Baseball History 1). Who Invented Baseball-Many people for years have said that Abner Doubleday had invented baseball. But many historians have dismissed the theory that he did along with the U.S congress. It is now stated that Alexander Cartwright invented baseball. It is because Cartwright invented the modern rules of the game, created the Knickerbocker Base Ball club, along with the diamond shaped playing field.

In this photo is James 'Jim ' Stynes before his first VFL/AFL game. Stynes is a prominent Irish-born Australian rules footballer and was best known for his career in the sport at its highest level. Jim was also known for his remarkable charity work and his hard fort battle with cancer. Stynes was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1966 and was one of six siblings. Stynes was introduced to Gaelic football at the age of 8 and starred in the under 11 's competition a year later at the age of 9 and a future in the sport seemed inevitable.

It was first invented in 1892 when Camp had altered the rules of the sports rugby and soccer and had eventually led to the creation of American football. Camp is responsible for inventing the line of scrimmage, use of downs, point system, the number of players per side, the snap, the basic formations of offense and defense and the creation of the quarterback position. Camp also is credited with the long - term commercialization of the sport, having written hundreds of articles and books highlighting the sport becoming popular throughout America. Camp is also responsible for being the first to publish a book on football with pictures and illustrations as coaching ads.

Many years later, this led to the development of the game in Canada, which was pioneered by a dentist named Dr William George Beers, who established the Montreal Lacrosse Club in 1856. In 1866, he rewrote the rules, reducing the number of players, and implementing a rubber ball and a redesigned stick. By 1860, Canada had officially adopted lacrosse as their national game, and by 1867 exhibition games had begun to be played in England.

Camp was an unreal player at Yale University and is known as the father of American football. Camp helped write the first rules for American football — which were already being played in universities on the East Coast and in Canada in about 1876. These changes included reducing the number of people from 15 players to 11 players and replacing the traditional rugby scrum to the kickoff. Camp also created the rule that a team needed to gain 5 yards in three plays in order to keep possession.
