3. What assembly formed in Jamestown in the year 1619? Why was it so important? The assembly that formed in Jamestown in the year 1619 was House of Burgesses.
Jamestown and the Massachusetts bay colonies influenced the growth of the thirteen colonies. These two colonies opened the doors for additional colonies. In 1607 the London Charter company sent 104 men on a boat to explore the new world and get financial profit from their investments in shares of company stock (gold). When they landed they were in what is now present day Virginia they called their colony Jamestown. Jamestown was a perfect place to settle it had fertile soil and the climate was warm.
On May 14, 1607, Jamestown was established and would become the first ever permanent English establishment in North America and thirteen years since then they would later establish Plymouth plantation. Between both Plymouth plantation and Jamestown which one of the where better? They had their similarities with each other and they also had their differences with each other. People may ask which was superior Jamestown or Plymouth plantation you would get different responses, but these reasons will show audience which one is the superior of the two. When they returned back to Jamestown they built a fort in 19 days, expecting an attack. There was originally 100 men but after many of them got sick they went down to 50. The colonists who first arrived at the Jamestown wanted to earn economic profits. They were expecting to find and gain mineral wealth such as gold and other natural resources. Also, the Virginia Company of London established the colony in Jamestown in order to find a Northwest sailing route to head to the Orient and, therefore, make opportunities for trade. Other motive to settle in Virginia was to prevent the influence of Spanish colonies, which spread the belief of Spanish Catholicism. The Virginia Company of London tried to convert the Indians in Virginia into Christianity.
Starting with the development of New England (One of the British colonies in North America), the founders of New England were Pilgrims who founded Plymouth in 1620. These Pilgrims wanted to find The Promised Land, they wanted success. They left on a ship called Mayflower as permission granted by Virginia. 35 Saints and 65 Strangers were on the Mayflower on their journey. They arrived on Plymouth when they accidently went off course.
Although many people know the birth of America had much to do with new English settlers, very few know the story. Many often narrow it down Thanksgiving, Indians, and Pilgrims. However, there is a much deeper and significant story. Many challenges were faced during the 1607 - 1707 period. Many died in the quest for a New World and new life while others thrived.
The colony of Jamestown was at a population of 504 after an arrival of a fleet of 9 ships carrying women, men, children and much needed food and supplies. Captain John Smith took hold of the chaotic government and put in place rigid policies of discipline and agricultural cultivation. In 1608 a gunpowder accident wounding Smith, his rivals used this opportunity to force him to return to England and name George Percy as his successor as president of the council. The day before John Smith’s departure, Captain Davis arrived with 16 other men adding to the population of Jamestown. However, a few weeks later, president Percy sent Captain Ratcliffe to build a fort for fishing and trade at Point Comfort.
Though Christopher Columbus was not the first to discover the Incipient World, his landing in the Incipient World in 1492 was consequential: it commenced a period kenned as the Age of Exploration. During this age, European explorers strived to find trade routes and acquire wealth from the Incipient World. Unlike most European countries, England got such a tardy start in the colonization game. The Jamestown settlement was one of the harshest experiences for many of the people on that voyage and it was led by Bartholomew Gosnold. If one family member owned a big section of land the family would often fight over the claim on the land. The settlers lost all of their clean water supply and that caused them to have to drink salt water that carried diseases and illness. Many settlers could not handle the harsh weather. They did not know how to dress for the weather and could not find food.

Based on these findings, the New England Colonies have different characteristics such as geography, climate, politics, economics, specializations, resources, and society that each affect the amount of trust we can permit them with as a beneficial aspect to our cause. It was, at the time, the largest, and the most important of the American colonies. It had the largest population (approximately 5,000). The colony was a very wealthy and influential colony.
Life in Colonial America was different for all those involved, which were the settlers of Jamestown, Plymouth, and Massachusetts Bay colony.. In the late seventeenth, early eighteenth centuries, with hopes of expanding English trade and acquiring a broader market for English manufactured goods, the nation states were wealthy enough to fund voyages of discovery and exploration. Over time, ten colonies were established along the Atlantic coast of North America. The first permanent English settlement was established in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607 and in 1620 a ship landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts, marking it as the second permanent English settlement.
