In Japan hills and mountains cover about 70% and forest covers about 67% of the land. In these 67% forest about 53% of the forest is natural. Its monsoon area has heavy rain in summer and typhoons in early fall. These abundant rains support their forest’s massive trees and diverse species. Here mentioned eight famous forests of Japan.
1. Aokigahara
Aokigahara forest situated at the northwest base of Mountain Fuji. It is known as “suicide forest” or “sea of trees”. It has a breathtaking scenery and a beautiful landscape. 4. Shirakami-Sanchi
Shirakami Sanchi stands between Aomori and Akita prefectures in the northern Tohoku region of Japan. Its central core is made up of the last virgin beech forest. This region is declared as the country’s 1st UNESCO world heritage sites in 1993. The most attractive part here is Anmon Falls on the north eastern side.

How to go there: From the north from Hirosaki in Aomori Prefecture and from the south from Noshiro in Akita Prefecture will take about a one hour train ride north of Akita City. Or through Odate-Noshiro Airport, which has daily flights from Tokyo's Haneda and Osaka's Itami Airports.
Opening hour: visitor center is open from 9:00 to 16:30 from November to March. And 8:30 to 17:00 from April to October.

5. Tadasu no Mori
Tadasu no Mori means purify or correct something. This forest is called the “forest of correction”. It is situated near the bank of the Kamo River, where Takaon River joins the Kamo River in the northeast part of Kyoto city. There are about 40 species of trees here and some of them are 200 to 600 years old.
