Have you heard about Jasmine Twitty? Easely, South Carolina’s youngest judge appointed at the age of 25. Twitty 's name has been dancing in the headlines since last week after she took her official oath and the stand, as the Honorable Judge Jasmine Twitty. When I heard about this story, my heart was filled with joy, pride, and admiration for Twitty. I live in Atlanta, Georgia which is very close to South Carolina. I have always had an interest in social justice and family policy. I have a passion for fighting for injustice in society. When I heard of Jasmine 's accomplishment it reminded me of how far we have come in society, yet how much more work there is to be done in the area of social justice. It is not overlooked that her appointment has arrived in the after math of the tragic Charleston massacre and Bree Newsome’s removal of the confederate flag in South Carolina. Twitty has made history with her epic appointment in the rural south. Twitty has shown the true meaning of staying true to self, following your passion to make a difference and lead by example, not only for African American young women, but for all young people that are determined to focus on their career goals.
