Jeffrey Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was known to be an energetic happy little boy until the age of 4 when he had to have surgery to correct a double hernia. People began to notice a change in Dahmer and he became increasingly withdrawn following the birth of his younger brother. His childhood was relatively normal, but as he got older he began to show no interest in hobbies or social interactions. His family frequently moved and his parents divorced when he was in his early teens. Report stated that when Jeffery was eight years old he was molested by a neighbor boy. According to reports “he continued his fascination with dead animals, dissecting dead squirrels in his grandmothers basement and dissolving them with chemicals” (crime museum). His grandmother began to find disturbing things in her home like a .357 magnum under his bed and a male mannequin in his closet. Because of his strange behavior his grandmother asked him to move out. Nine years after the first murder Dahmer killed again. This time he picked up Steven Tuomi from a bar and reportedly killed him on impulse and Dahmer said he had no memory of killing him. After the second murder he began to kill sporadically, until he began killing one person every week until the summer of 1991. Reports showed that he began to developed rituals as he progressed, experimenting with chemical means of disposal and often consuming the flesh of his victims. Dahmer also attempted crude lobotomies, drilling into victims' skulls while they were still alive and injecting them with muriatic acid (biography.com). On July 22, 1991 Dahmer was finally arrested. During interrogation he admitted to murdering the 17 men, but plead not guilty and then eventually changed his plea to guilty by virtue of insanity.
