Jesus’s love is seen throughout the world by believers. The author discusses this point in depth during this chapter. The author states, “His life and death are what make it possible for us to seriously consider moving beyond the desire to love the Other to actually doing it” (32). I think this is an interesting point that the author made because he is saying that Christ is the reason why we can love others that are not like us. I agree with the author because the opposite of this is seen in the United States currently. A prime example is the new Muslim Ban that President Trump has created. This shows the hatred that some Americans have for people who are not like them. The author states, “…the message of Christianity is, ‘Whatever your language, God speaks it!’ As a result, Christianity is the most multicultural faith in the world” (33). I have never thought about this, but once I did I agreed. Christianity is one of the only religions that allows translations of the Bible, whereas others will look down upon people for not speaking the native language of the religion. This unique factor of Christianity shows that God loves all people, not just certain races or ethnicities. Another point that the author talks about is Christianity being multicultural. The reading states, “There are people from more than three thousand different languages and cultural groups who worship Jesus” (33). Like the author states, this is something to be celebrated. All believers are welcome to worship how they please. I think this is good, because everyone can use their different talents to serve the same God.
