In the eleven documents we’ve viewed, its easy to see that the Germans have taken away basic human rights of the Jewish people. They've abused and practically tortured these poor Jewish people. To choose or to be chosen; which is better? The gift of choice is something not bestowed upon everyone, and this is especially true for the main character of Chaim Potok’s The Chosen. The Holocaust in Geramny involved the genocide of millions of Jewish citizens through the powerful hand of Hitler and his Nazi goverment. The Nazis and their perspectives are held responsible for the death of close to 6 million Jews two thirds of their population. The impact of the Holocaust on Jews runs deeper than just death, the jews were set aside as inhuman getting placed in ghettos that were nowhere near suited for living, also racist propaganda affected the Jewish people through that they were shown as monsters and enemies of the Germans, boycott from the nuremberg laws and Kristallnacht hurt and isolated the Jewish population. These are all significant reasons that paved the road toward the “final solution”. My first factor of how the jews were affected is their lives in the Ghettos.
In the Bible, Abraham bound his son Isaac in sacrifice, and these parents were eager to do the same for their own children in the name of God. Throughout history, multiple religions have budded heads, such as Christians and Muslims. In the book “The Chosen,” by Chaim Potok, the Hasidic and Modern Orthodox people conflict with each other because of their different views of belief. The religion itself doesn’t conflict, but the people of the different religions do. Hasidic and Modern Orthodox are the two sects of the main characters which were divided off from the four sects of Judaism, which are, Reconstructions, Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox. Both religions are “types” of Jews; both of these are stricter than the “average Jew,” but Hasidism’s are considered the extreme.
Jesus is at the center of believers’ life and worship style. Believers are justified by faith, and they are not under the supervision of the law (Gal 3:24-25). However, all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). Believers have to understand the Jewish roots of their faith. Learning about the Jewish roots of Christianity can transform believers’ understanding of Scripture.
Before The Holocaust, Jews lived just like everyone else, no one really paid attention to who was Jewish and who wasn’t. Jews had all the rights that everyone else did. They could own land, go to school, have a job, own factories, and live without fear of being caught until, one man jumped in. In a heartbeat he convinced everyone that Jews were the cause of economical problems and everything else that was wrong. He took away all of their rights as citizens and everything they had, land, jobs, family, everything.
The Heros of the Holocaust: The Righteous Among Nations Although the German race as a whole is often blamed for the Holocaust, some Jewish citizens may have not been able to survive without their non-Jewish neighbors. Non-Jewish persons who strongly benefited the life of someone being persecuted during the Holocaust, are know as and rewarded the title, “Righteous Among Nations”. To be awarded this honor, one must have actively aided a Jewish person during the Holocaust, purely out of compassion rather than any means of personal gain. Those declared Righteous Among Nations in many cases put the lives of Jews before their own.
Judaism was founded by Abraham, Isaac, and Moses, and it is the original Abrahamic religion. There are around 14 million followers of Judaism today, and these people are called Jews. Judaism is a monotheistic religion, Jews believe that there is only one God. They believe that God created the universe and continue to effect everything in the world. They believe that every Jew can have a personal relationship with God.
