These are the images we carry in our head of reality and these images come from our own backgrounds, our own experiences. They represent the implicit assumptions of our lives.” A paradigm shift is changing that mental image. Paradigm shifts occur all the time and can flip your way of thinking on its ear. Many times the person experiencing the paradigm shift is not expecting this to occur, as what happened with Jill Bolte Taylor. It is easy in the hectic pace of today’s society to get carried away with things that in the end don’t mean that much. I seem to have a very noisy left hemisphere that is always going through the thousands of scenarios of what could happen. I have noticed that my right hemisphere is often too silent and I often don’t get a lot of peace and serenity in my life. Jill Bolte Taylor’s Lessons I think that Jill Bolte Taylor learned a very important lesson from her stroke. She states that she was very busy with work and NOMI, to the point that while having her stroke she even said she didn’t have time for a stroke. I think that her stroke was a wakeup call, it made her slow down and take stock in her life. I think that she was able to consider what was important to her. At the end of the video she says that she had the choose to be all about herself or to be part of a bigger picture. She choose to be part of the bigger picture, and now gives motivational speeches.
