J.K. Rowling is one of the most successful authors in the world. Her series Harry Potter is widely considered to be one of the best book series’ of all time. Her childhood and her early adult life greatly influenced her writings. From the Harry Potter series all the way to the Cormoran Strike series, she has shaped people's lives for the better. J.K. Rowling is one of the most successful authors in the world. J.K. Rowling was born to Anne Volant Rowling and Peter Rowling in Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire, England on July 31, 1965. She endured a very happy childhood but does remember getting made fun of because of her last name. She was called, “Rowling Pin,” by her classmates. Rowling is a Christian and used many themes in the Bible in the series. She says that while she wrote the first Harry Potter book she attended a church regularly and still attends church to this day. She thinks the fact that some Christians think she is supporting witchcraft is ridiculous and that she, “believes in God not magic…..” Another influence is the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. The idea of entering a portal into another world came from that. Platform 9 and ¾ is influenced by the dresser in which you enter Narnia from. She originally thought about using a similar item but didn’t want to seem like she was stealing from C.S. Lewis. So, she used a column in the middle of King’s Cross Station. J.K. Rowling has had a very interesting life. Today, she is married to her second husband and is working on her Cormoran Strike series. She likes writing the crime genre books because, “.....unlike Harry, where there was an overarching story, a beginning and an end, you’re talking about discrete stories. So while a detective lives, you can keep giving him cases.” She plans on writing “a lot more” books in this series. She wrote them under the pseudonym, Robert Galbraith, to see if she could get a book published solely on literary
