J.K Rowling is a famous author of many books, including the Harry Potter series. As a young woman she was extremely poor and became successful through hard work, determination and a little bit of luck. Before she created and authored the Harry Potter series, her most famous accomplishment, she was creative but was not fortunate enough to have published other writings. However, she never thought she, nor Harry Potter, would become this successful.The Harry Potter series not only led her to become famous, but also gave her the opportunity to write other books. She persevered through very difficult times, and is now a very famous and respectable women. J.K.Rowling became a famous writer even though she was struggled with insecurities and poverty. She always wanted to earn her things, not receive them. One of her main challenges in her life was becoming poor. When she was poor,she also was going through a divorce. She got a divorce because her husband was abusive towards her. While she was with her ex-husband, they had a child together. Her name was Jessica. J.K Rowling had no real job to support Jessica and herself,so she worked at coffee shops, and wrote a book.This time in her life was very hard for her, because she didn’t have anyone to turn to. “She could not get a job unless she had child care for Jessica, but she could not afford child care without a job” (Bradley 44). Her sister had kids of her own, and a life, and her parents didn’t have enough money. “ If an intelligent young woman can imagine a worse scenario than being thrown out on the street in a foreign country without her child and no belongings, except the clothes on her back, that scenarios still would be hard put to rival, Jo Rowling’s reality in the late 1993” (Kirk 57).
