From September 15th to October 15th, we celebrate the impact Hispanics have had on the United States. Miguel Antonio Otero was an important figure who contributed in the economic development of New Mexico. He had many successes in his field of work as a government official and businessman. Miguel Antonio Otero was born on June 21, 1829 in Valencia, Nuevo México (New Mexico). Don Vicente Otero and Doña Gertrudis Aragón de Otero, his father and mother, were natives of Spain who had come to New Mexico as colonists.

Pancho Villa was born Doroteo Arango, the son of a sharecropper at the hacienda in San Juan Del Rio, Durango. While growing up, Pancho Villa witnessed and experienced the harshness of peasant life. In Mexico during the late 19th century, the rich were becoming richer by taking advantage of the lower classes, often treating them like slaves. When Villa was 15, his father died, so Villa began to work as a sharecropper to help support his mother and four siblings.

Benito Juarez was the 26th President of Mexico. Señor Juarez did a lot for the well being of Mexico, such as stopping the French in Mexico, stopping the Second Mexican Empire, modernizing the country, and other great deeds. Benito Juarez also was a lawyer and a governor before becoming president. President Juarez helped Mexico stop the interference of the French in Mexico.

Pedro Alonso Lopez, also known as Monster of the Andes, was a colombian serial killer who was sentenced for killing eighty girls, but he claimed he murded and rapped about three hundred. Pedro Lopez was known for raping girls around his country then moved to Peru and Ecuador and all around. Pedros dad died when Benilda; his mother, was three months pregnant with her son at the time of his father's death.
Emiliano Zapata was an important figure in the Mexican Revolution where he formed and commanded the Liberation Army of the South. He was born on August 8, 1879 in Anenecuilco, Mexico. In 1897 he was arrested because he took part in a protest formed by the peasants of his village against the plantation that had seized their lands. After he was pardoned, he continued to agitate among the peasants, and was drafted into the Mexican army. In 1909 he went to his home village of Anenecuilco, where he was elected as the village’s council board president.
Pedro Lopez , also known as “The Monster of the Andes”, was born on October 8, 1949 in Tolima, Colombia. He was known for being a serial killer for murdering about one hundred ten to three hundred young girls, and a rapist for raping about three hundred young girls in South America. He was also in the Guinness World Records for being the "most prolific serial killer". His mother, Benilda López De Casteneda, was a prostitute at about the age of twelve and his father, Midardo Reyes, was a member of the Colombian Conservative Party (something dealing with politics) where they lived in poverty and political violence. Lopez was the seventh child out of thirteen children.

By taking down the people of the city, Cortes was exposed to the city’s great treasures for his reward of gold; he retrieved all the gold he could, and travelled back to Spain where he was labelled a hero for his acts of
