John Adams was one of the Founding Fathers who served as the First Vice President and second President of the United States of America.(John Adams, 2018) Adams started his career out as a lawyer, then became a critic of Great Britain. Adams served as the first Vice President of the United States during 1789 through 1797. Then through 1797 through 1801 he served as the Second President of the United States.
Before John started out his career as a lawyer he went to Harvard College during the years of 1771-1775. Adams graduated 15 in his glass of 24 in 1775. Adams began his famous journal in Worcester on January 14, 1756. He wrote in his journal for the rest of his life regularly. Adams settled on practicing law after discarding many ideas of a new career. John studied law under a man named James Putnam. Putnam failed to to accompany Adams when it came to the time for Adams to present himself at the bar. Jeremiah Gridley ,another lawyer, recommended Adams. (Biography of John Adams, 2012) John and his friend Samuel Quincy went to Boston to be sworn as lawyers on November 6, 1758. Adams practiced is law in Suffolk County. Adams opened his law office in Braintree. Adams first case was a failure. He spent long hours studying to improve his skill and he started to get confidence in himself. John wasn’t voted to be voted right off the back like Washington was. The election was split into Anti-federalist and the Federalist. Adams was the dominant federalist running for Vice President. This means he supported a strong central government. Other vice President candidates were John Hancock, and George Clinton. There was a threat made to Adams by Alexander Hamilton.
