On April 11, 1962 John F. Kennedy held a news conference in which he addresses the most recent steel prices. He then calls for stable prices and wages as the country rebuilds as it comes out of a recession. Kennedy uses rhetorical devices to persuade corporate steel companies to reduce prices. Kennedy opens his address and implies that steel corporations have acted out in an unjustifiable and irresponsible manner in regards to the nation's public interest.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Junior’s, speech at his inaugural address in 1961 is undeniably a masterpiece of the persuasive arts. Although the speech is short as such speeches go, and although its main persuasive device is pathos alone, the masterful skill with which Kennedy’s speech is written makes it one of the most moving and effective political speeches to date. Kennedy’s vivid use of diction and metaphor, as well as his extremely memorable syntax, are particularly strong and successful. Every intelligent debater, speech-writer, and generally argumentative person knows that there are three main techniques which can be used to manipulate an audience and engage them in the speaker’s topic and purpose: ethos, logos, and pathos.

Robert F. Kennedy knew that he would be talking to a crowd of women and men who were African American. For him to relate to them he told the story about how his brother John F. Kennedy was assassinated also by a Caucasian man. He understood the pain and hate that they were going through. Since, Robert F. Kennedy had credibility and goodwill he had the attention of the audience and his main goal was to withstand that. The age group of the men and women who attended the speech probably ranged from late 20s to late 50s, so he had to make sure that his speech would include everybody.
For my speaker and speech analysis assignment, I chose JFK’s inaugural address speech. I chose this speech because I think he has an interesting story and with this speech, he inspired a great amount of optimism and patriotism in America. It is often considered one of our country’s most important speeches. In my analysis, I will be focusing on JFKs background, and many aspects of his speech including his delivery, organizational, persuasive and rhetorical techniques.

Kennedy made a speech that he knew would be remembered for many years to come even after his presidential term.
John F. Kennedy won one of the narrowest election victories in the history of the United States to become president. Out of nearly 69 million votes cast, he triumphed over Nixon with only 118,550 votes. Cold War tensions dominated the campaign of 1960 and heightened nationalistic sentiments. To add to it, the Soviets take a lead with the launch of Sputnik. Many in prominent positions of government spoke of their fear of the U.S. being left behind.
On April 4, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy was in Indianapolis for a campaign stop, when he received news that Martin Luther King was killed, causing Kennedy to write and deliver a speech regarding the assassination. This speech was succinct but not only was it about the assassination, it was also to tell the people there is still wisdom and hope in this time of turmoil. To reach this purpose, he first builds up his ethos, uses pathos to add mood and hope, and unifies the people. The combination of these elements makes it a very powerful and memorable speech. Robert F. Kennedy builds his credibility by relating his personal experience and knowledge of what the audience is feeling to the current events.
On January 20, 1961, forty-three-year-old John F, Kennedy delivered his inaugural address in Washington D.C after being sworn in as the thirty-fifth United States President. Presidential Persuasive Essay President John F. Kennedy influenced the United States in various different ways. Before, during and after the time he served as president he accomplished many things. President Kennedy was known for being a great civil rights activist, negotiating the nuclear Test- Ban, and also initiating the Alliance for Progress. Kennedy states that the steel companies are a national problem due to the increase of steel prices.
The two essays and the picture in question all have differing styles. All of the pieces also contain different focuses, which contribute to their difference in style and tone.
