John Smith's Journal Analysis

294 Words2 Pages
In the book about John Smith’s “General history of Virginia, New England, and Summer Isles”, I found the journal interesting. The way Smith wrote in third person instead of first is different from most journals published. Smith’s work later on in the journal, reflects on someone else’s viewpoint on his life and reputation and I like that he used different sides to write about. Lastly, his journal showed the history that happened during that time period, such as the Indians, his life, Procantas, and Christianity. One thing I disliked about Smith’s work is the writing style he writes in. It becomes confusing in some parts of his journal when he writes in a European style.
The setting took places in different areas of New England and Virginia.
