Though John Steinbeck writes in a style some people may not understand during the first read, once people see what he’s trying to convey, the novel becomes an even better work of art. He demonstrates this in all of his novels, even in this one, and it allows readers to interpret the meaning of the story in their own way. The strengths of the novel are that the author uses a decent amount of imagery to help readers establish setting, and he doesn’t add too much to the point where the reader skips over the paragraph.
