Born in 1942, John was raised by a lower middle-income family. He and his two sisters both went to Catholic schools. At a young age, John was a very quiet boy. He worked odd jobs and spent the money on bagging groceries. At times, to keep himself busy, he got himself into Boy Scout activities. He had a love for cooking, something that his father never liked about him. For this reason, his he had a frosty relationship with his father. His father was also an alcoholic who used to abuse his mother physically and berated both him and his children with a razor strap. At 26, John Wayne was arrested indicted for sodomizing Mark Miller, a teenage boy. He denied the charges claiming that Mark had sex with him willingly for money. His ordeal continued when four months later he was arrested then charged with hiring Anderson Dwight, 18 years old, to assault the latter. After a psychiatric test, Gay pleaded guilty to sodomy.
