Josephine is a 20 year old female, salsa instructor, has an eating disorder, and run to stay fit. She has her guilt every time she eats fried food. Her stage of change is contemplation, she can try to change and help herself with motivation and self-less service. When she said that her parent cultural food it consisted of a lot of fried food and every time she eat her mother’s food, she feel guilty because she has a fear of gaining weight and not being healthy. Her calorie is too low for her height and weight. Contemplation is to help her change her thoughts of her body and giving her roles about her normal weight, lifestyle, and diet. Imagery technique is like role playing where I can have Josephine telling all the places she goes to eat, food she makes, and cultural food; then imagine herself going to one of the places she orders food; wasn’t a struggle or stress about the food. By eating the fried food, her mind is telling her that it’s going to make her fat and unhealthy. She is already unhealthy and malnutrition. Her lab shows very low results of vitamin and mineral in her blood. I think she can overcome the imagery of what she think is not good for her, that it is good for her because of her lifestyle and activities. She didn’t have any difficulty imagining and talking about it after a nice conversation. Things she tells me, I say it back to her to hear what she is saying and how that may or may not affect her lifestyle and diet.
