In Rubin’s writing in Pursuing Happiness she goes over the main correlation between money and happiness. She uses many examples that she constantly refers back to in her writing. Through the justified facts in the beginning to the relatable spending and decision making, she clearly defines that money, when spent wisely to the person can make them pursue happiness. Through her many creditable and relatable examples, she cleary accomplishes the purpose of informing us on how money can relate to happiness.
Happiness is a very hard word to define. To me it means a state of emotion, but it could mean something completely different to someone else. For instance, some might feel that it is a goal in life, that everyone tries to or must achieve, but not for me. I feel it is always a good thing to go through hard times because it shows how strong you are and what you can take. Sometimes I feel so much better letting out my true emotions then keeping them inside and not show anything.
Happiness is understanding that everything will be okay. For example, having hope in a negative situation. Having hope reassures you and distracts you from feeling stress and thinking badly about the situation. Being happy is feeling satisfied with what’s in your life. As an example of this, you may feel like you don’t need anyone or anything but what you have now.
People miss the fact that happiness comes from within. In an attempt to find joy – we must also be cautious about over excessive desire to acquire material objects and wealth.
