Introduction San Diego de Alcala was the first mission in Alta California that Father Serra and Captain Gaspar de Portola established on July 16, 1769. They built it in San Diego Bay, where the tribe named “Kumeyaay” was settling. The Native Americans became mad after the Spanish missionaries treated the native people badly, so they decided to attack the mission. After the disaster, Father Serra came back from Mission San Carlos to San Diego to see people rebuilding Mission San Diego. Kumeyaay Before the Spanish started settling, a tribe named “Kumeyaay” was living.
Juana Villegas v Metropolitan Government County/Nashville-Davison County Sheriff’s Office Juana Villegas, 9 months pregnant with her fourth child, was arrested and detained for pretrial on a minor traffic offence on July 3,2008. After two days in the Davison County detention center, Ms. Villegas’s water broke and she went into labor. Popular sovereignty panacea • General Lewis Cass took over from President Polk and created popular sovereignty that appealed to the public because it was a compromise between free soilers who wanted to ban slavery and the territories who wanted to keep it. Popular sovereignty could spread the blight of slavery.
Nicolas Enriquez’s piece titled The Virgin of Guadalupe with the Four Apparitions depicts the Virgin mother Mary as she revealed herself to a newly transformed Christian Native named Juan Diego. This 1773 painting is a reproduction of the 1531believed arheiropoeita of Virgin Mary when she descends on Mount Tepeyac and tells Indian Juan Diego to go inform the bishop that a temple shall be built for her. The Virgin of Guadalupe is an iconic piece of Catholicism in Mexico and holds religious and cultural importance to both Spaniards and the Natives of Mexico, such as the Nahuatl. Enriquez’s painting has several deviations from the original arheiropoetia, such as different color choice and addition of Nahuatl symbols, which portrays his painting
Wolf Reading Response Eric Wolf described the Chinese Revolution in comparison to that of the Mexican Revolution. For example, during the Mexican Revolution, there were three main crises. The first was the demographic crisis. The second was the ecological crisis. The third was the crisis in power and authority.
This causes Francisco to struggle in school because he is not fluent in English but he works really hard to try and learn it fluently. “Since Papá [does] not know English and Mamá [understands] only a little Roberto translated for them. Papá showed them his green card, which Ito, the Japanese sharecropper for whom [they] picked strawberries, had helped him get years before,”. Francisco and his family struggle a lot, especially not knowing English. English is Francisco’s worst subject, although math is his best subject because it is the only subject that you don't need to know English for.
At Jay M. Robinson High School in Concord, North Carolina, Shannon Winchester notices a lot of factors that play a role in the performance of her students. One of the biggest factors is race and how certain groups of student tend to behave better than others. Winchester said this primarily falls on the basis of race, with white students outperforming both black and Hispanic students. However, Winchester says there is a significant issue in Jay M. Robinson High School: a fair amount of minority students are bused into the school. Jay M. Robinson High School lies in a primarily middle class section of Concord, and is only five miles from Charlotte Motor Speedway and six from Concord Mills mall, the most visited mall in North Carolina.

Seeing all of the other kids get off the bus while you are stuck working can’t feel good. The fact that Panchito describes in detail what the boys are wearing and what they are carrying seems to imply that he really wants to go to school. Migrant workers have to live in bad conditions.
According to the article about the Cinco de Mayo on May the 5th, I learned that not only that this day is not the Mexican independence day but its real independence day is on the 16th of September. In addition, I learned that they had two government groups in 1858 where they both fought hard for a period of time, however, the liberal won and took control of Mexico with its new president named Juárez. This whole article interested me because I was able to understand the hardship and how united they are in the example where the author talked about how they won the war with France without preparing for the war. although France did come back to claim the lands. France returned back to Mexico in next day and won over Mexico.

Most widely known as a poet, Sor Juana offers a wide array of literary works that serve as a look into the dynamic world of seventeenth-century Hispanic literature. Considered the last great author of Spain’s Golden Age,Sor Juana and her influence contributed to creating a Mexican identity in the New World. In the process of studying and analyzing her literary works, I owe much to both feminist scholarship and post-colonial theory and criticism. Feminist scholarship views the nun as a foremother for femalewriters and the first woman to speak out for the intellectual rights of women in education.
In the short story, “Seventh Grade,” by Gary Soto, the author pokes fun at the seventh grade boys in the beginning of a school year. The main characters are Victor, Michael, Mr. Bueller, and Teresa, a girl Victor has a crush on. In the end, Victor learns that is it is always best to be himself.
