The 16th century Spanish explorer, Hernando De Soto arrived in the west indies as a young man and made money in slave trade. Seeking glory and riches, he left on a major expedition in 1538 to conquer Florida for Spain. He and his men traveled throughout the southeastern united states in search of money.
