Being a “great man” who is a great leader requires that one be willing to do what is lawfully right when his or her personal feelings might not align with the laws. An example of President Bush doing what is mandated by the state when his heart saw “right” as something entirely different, is in the case of Karla Faye Tucker. Tucker was facing the death penalty for multiple murders. In The Leadership Genius of George W. Bush, Thompson and Ware dictate a letter that Faye wrote to the then governor of Texas, George W. Bush, in a desperate plea to pardon her execution. Karla revealed her dramatic change in character due to her salvation and belief in Jesus Christ.

Leadership in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies The role of a leader is a constant struggle in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Ralph and Jack, the two emerging leaders in the novel, fight back and forth to gain the discipline of the other boys on the island. They also fight for the power to make the decisions that they feel should be made. Both leaders are similar in their desire for control, yet different in their leadership qualities and their objectives while on the island.
I am thrilled to nominate Ms. Rodnesha Minor for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s Outstanding Student Teacher of the Year. Ms. Minor has shown to be true to the spirit of excellence offered by preservice educators prepared at NCA&T. Ms. Minor manages her time while working at Summerfield Elementary as a true professional.
Lincoln on Leadership Lincoln on Leadership is a book that describes Lincoln and all his characteristics that made him the important leader this country needed at a time when we were separated based on the actions of war. After reading the Donald T. Phillips book Lincoln on Leadership, the book demonstrated four key areas that produced an effective leader in Lincoln. These areas are character, people, endeavor, and communication. The first key area in Lincoln’s Leadership was his interaction with the people of the United States. An example of how Lincoln worked well with people is the way he would talk to his generals.
From that position she transitioned into the role of a secondary Math Supervisor. This position led to her title of Data Coach in the school community. Now for the last four years, she has helped the position of Assistant Principal and Data Supervisor. The next answer was “Describe your leadership style.” In response to this question Mrs. Harris stated that her leadership style is transformational.
Janelle’s leadership style represents what early studies of LMX describe as in-groups and out-groups. Those in the in-group have “expanded and negotiated role responsibilities (extra roles)”, while those in the out-group are “based on the formal employment contract (defined roles)”. Tom’s team is in Janelle’s in-group because they are the most creative and productive, and they are willing to do anything for Janelle which she then rewards them with better assignments and lets them take bigger risks. On the flipside, Joan’s team is in the out-group because she is unable to put in extra hours at work due to her role as a mother of young children at home. Joan also feels like because she and her team cannot always put in the extra hours, Janelle
Robin Clark’s Style and Approach to Leadership Robin Clark’s approach and style to leadership was: transformational. According to Black and Porter (2000), this approach motivates other individuals and groups to ignore self-interests and work towards the larger good of the organisation to achieve ‘significant accomplishments’, more than what they would thought possible. Dimensions of this approach includes: demonstrating idealised behaviour, by means of being a role model and encouraging a shared vision, and leading through inspiring visions and intellectual stimulation (Bass, 1990). Robin Clark demonstrates this throughout her work in which she envisioned what an ideal system would look like, wherein she was a pioneer in designing a system for maximum impact in the 1980-1990s (Clark & Burke, 1998). According to Spall (2002), Robin Clark visually equated a system design to a bell shaped curve, in which the group of children, young people and families who fall under the middle of the bell curve would be the centre of and the system should be designed around.
Leadership Thought Prior to 1900 The earliest study of leadership thought would be the “Great Man Theory. This theory conceptualized leaders as a single “Great Man” who knew everything and influenced others to follow him. In leadership discourse, the Great Man theory—an assertion that certain individuals, certain men, are gifts from God placed on earth to provide the lightening needed to uplift human existence—is associated mainly with Thomas Carlyle (Spector, 2015, p.250). The focal-point of this theory is that leaders’ skills are inherent and set that them apart from those around them and that these traits enable them to assume roles of power and authority.
What is my leadership philosophy? Over twenty years ago, I raised my right hand and took an oath of office by which I swore to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.” I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).
Attending the National Student Leadership Conference will tremendously increase my chances of attending college in the future. It will help me develop important skills for my future, as well as teach me more about college life which will in the end allow for a smoother transition when I finally attend. This program will help me stay focused on my goals, and teach me new leadership skills. The skills I could learn in this program would assist me in working hands on with my school, and community. I would be able to help encourage my community to work hard, and teach them the skills I learned to be a more efficient person of society.
When Julia committed on the work of the employee’s organization she should have asked if there was anything the employee noticed that could assist with other employees maintaining the organization versus how to make it better. Leading by choice empowers employees and delegating assignments and tasks. Understanding Julia has thousands of stores she has to understand that she can task store managers and assistant managers with the responsibility to train employees to her expectations. Leading for competence is the supporting and coaching of employees. Julia has a good way of exhibiting positive feedback to employees that have done what is expected
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
