Recently, a local housemaid was convicted and hanged on the charge of the murder of the very child she cared for. Justine Moritz was a young lady who worked for the Frankenstein family with her mother since she was a young girl. Justine was one of the favored maids who took care of William Frankenstein, the victim and the youngest in the family. Throughout most of the trial she argued to be innocent, but in the end, finally admitted that she was guilty. A servant found the locket inside Justine’s pocket which was in the possession of William before he was found strangled to death. The Frankenstein family still mourns for both deaths.

Most of the statements were made against Justine’s defence. The attestations that were made were easily used as evidence that made Justine seem less innocence than what she claims to be. Her whereabouts on the night of the murder are unclear but she was spotted near the crime scene just before the body was found. The women who spotted her near the area asked her what she was doing there, and Justine gave a hesitant response. Upon returning to the Frankenstein house, she was informed about the murder of William and acted distraught and wept for her lost. She then remained mourning in her bed for several days, all of which could have been an act. A servant then found Justine in possession of the same locket that William had before he died. Justine then spent the next few hours trying to look for William but eventually found herself locked out of Geneva for the night. She then proceeded to a barn that belonged to some people she knew and ended up sleeping there for the night. When she woke up in the morning and made her way back to Geneva, she unknowingly passed by the crime scene just after the body was discovered.
