Juvenile Justice

Thousands of kids have committed horrendous crimes, and most will only be charged with juvenile justice. Is this fair? That is the question being asked by society today. Should kids be tried as adults so that children learn their lesson, and if you can do the crime, you can serve the time. Juvenile Judge Elizabeth Crnkovich says there is a disturbing trend of increasing violence among young people. According to ABC News, The Justice Department estimates that about 10 percent of all assassinations are done by minors under the age of 18. The FBI arrests close to 33,000 juveniles every year for criminal offenses.
If juveniles are not punished for their mistakes, they will keep committing crimes without serious consequences. Raising kids this way will have a negative impact on their futures. He was tried as a juvenile and not given a serious punishment for his actions. At the age of 13, he killed the 27 year old women 2 doors down from him. 2 years later he killed a woman and her daughter down the block from him at the age of 15. One month before his 16th birthday he was sentenced only a 25 year sentencing in prison. Both times he was tried as a child under 18. Due to the fact that Craig was not tried as an adult for his serious crimes the first time, he continued to commit murder.
