Senior citizens. People of my generation tend to think of them to be uneventful and tedious individuals who aren’t the slightest bit interesting. However, I recently interviewed this woman named Kay Alloway who astonished me with how compelling her life was. Kay was born on June 14th, 1923 in Lawrenceville, Virginia. She became responsible very early as a child, since she was the oldest of 6 children. Mrs.Alloway had many chores she had to complete such as cooking and cleaning. While performing these chores, Kay quickly realized that she had a passion for the art of culinary. At the early age of 7, she was already helping her family prepare big planned meals. Kay and her husband Neil were inseparable. The two of them accomplished many substantial things paired together, such as starting a very successful catering business called, ¨Kay and Neil’s Caterer’s¨ . Their catering business was located in Charleston, South Carolina. They catered for weddings, convention centers, and respectively for former Vice President Gerald Ford. Not only did she cater for the Vice President, she was even invited to former First Lady Nancy Reagan lunch inn. Adding to that, she traveled across the globe to foreign settings such as, Canada, Europe, and most of South America in search of new foods and experiences. She says that, ¨food has brought me to places I’ve never thought I would go¨. Unfortunately, Kay’s husband Neil died of Parkinson’s in 2007 that was caused by a gunshot to the skull, when he served in the Marine Corps. She misses her dear husband greatly, but she says, ¨ you have to be a person that can meet changes in life¨ and ¨time takes care of
